Felicia Tan’s passion for bicycles began early—she grew up in her grandfather’s bike shop, where she learned to wrench before she could walk. A lifelong athlete, she rode BMX all through her childhood in Malaysia, got into downhill mountain bikes when she came to the U.S. at 13, played tennis and volleyball in high school, and played rugby in college. Felicia got into road bikes while pursuing a Master’s degree in biotechnology at CSU Channel Islands, and became involved with the Santa Barbara Bicycle Coalition the summer after graduation. She soon became certified as a League Cycling Instructor. Her work with BiciCentro’s youth programs led her to RYBT. She enjoys helping her youngsters face and overcome challenges both on and off their bikes, and is looking forward to another inspiring season. Felicia is especially proud to be a role model for the girls on the team, and is happy to help foster independence and empowerment in her students.
